‘Sons of Anarchy’ Spinoff ‘Mayans MC’ Officially Ordered to Series on FX

The next chapter of the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ saga will unfold in ‘Mayans MC’ on FX…

Get your engines revved up because the ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spinoff will roll onto FX later this year.

‘Mayans MC’ — based on the outlaw motorcycle club first featured in ‘Sons of Anarchy’ — has been ordered to series for 10 episodes on FX with the show expected to debut during the second half of 2018.

‘Mayans MC’ comes from ‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter as well as Elgin James and takes place in the aftermath of the original ‘Sons’ series that ran on FX from 2008 to 2014.

“Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and ‘Mayans MC’ has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style,” Nick Grad, president of original programming for FX, said on Friday. “Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James and this amazing cast, ‘Mayans MC’ builds on the legacy of ‘Sons of Anarchy,’ taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.”

The new series follows the story of EZ Reyes, who is a prospect of the Mayans MC charter on the California/Mexico border, after he returns home from prison.

‘Mayans MC’ stars JD Pardo (as Reyes), Edwards James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta. The pilot for ‘Mayans MC’ was actually shot, scrapped and then reshot with several new parts and actors joining the cast before the show was given a greenlight for the full season order.

‘Sons of Anarchy’ underwent a similar development after Scott Glenn was originally cast in the role of club president Clay Morrow before the pilot was reshot with Ron Perlman in the role.

‘Mayans MC’ is expected to debut in the fall of 2018 with 10 episodes on FX.
